It has been announced that a new facility will be built by Cargill in Bovina, Texas. The new facility will be used for feed production of products including Sweet Bran and RAMP specialty feeds and located on an adjoining property to an existing location of Cargill Cattle Feeders (CCF).
Due to the new facility, it is expected that 37 full-time jobs will be created in addition to contractors. The construction of the article will begin in August of 2012 and should be completed sometime in late summer of 2013.
Mike Lewis, vice president, Feed, Cargill Corn Milling North America, shared, “We are very excited about the possibilities for serving the growing livestock market from this location in Bovina. This is a very progressive, growth-oriented community. And it's in the heart of one of the biggest cattle feeding regions in the world."
Cargill produces and markets food, agricultural, financial, and industrial products and services. They were founded in 1865 and are a privately held company that employs 139,000 people in 65 countries.
Frank Gonzalez, Mayor of Bovina, recognized that they are extremely pleased to have Cargill chose Bovina for the investment. Gonzalez shared, "Our community leaders recognize the value of having Cargill as a partner in our community and in our economy. They have one existing facility here now, and have proven themselves to be good neighbors and good corporate citizens. We very much look forward to continuing the relationship."
Cargill Sweet Bran is a feed product touted as a highly palatable corn milling feed product. RAMP is a starter feed product for commercial cattle feeding operations.
