The 2012 BlogPaws conference was recently held in Salt Lake City, Utah, from June 21 through June 23, 2012, at the Sheraton Salt Lake. Over 400 sponsors, brands, bloggers, and pet lovers were in attendance for the yearly social media event.
The Dog Files founder, Kenn Bell, kicked off the BlogPaws conference with a video production workshop to a sold out crowd on June 21. From learning to walk a light closer to the subject for better lighting to what Bell uses in his Dog Files video hits, attendees were treated to three hours of intense video education.
The evening festivities wheeled into high gear with performing dogs Tillman the skateboarding dog and Norman the scooter dog, presented by Natural Balance. Animal Planet representatives were present and filmed the action.
After a keynote from Betsy Banks Saul, co-founder of Petfinder.com, a flat pet flash mob ensued and set the bar high for the day’s events. Dozens of exhibitors, a pet park, and Catification Lounge. The Catification Lounge was courtesy of Moderncat and Jackson Galaxy and showcased some of Moderncat’s favorite cat products for attendees to experience and see firsthand. The Catification Lounge was sponsored by the folks at Zero Odor.
On both Friday and Saturday, attendees were privy to dozens of educational sessions and seminars from industry experts including Triberr.com founder, Dino Dogan; blogger and veterinarian, Dr. Lorie Huston; Chicago writer and pet advocate, Steve Dale; Robbin and Joe Everett of TPPC TV; and renowed dog mystery writer, Spencer Quinn.
The entire event was pet-friendly and pets were welcome to join their owners at all sessions, activities, and a special night out at Squatters Pub and Brewery in Salt Lake City. A weekend of sessions and networking culminated with the red carpet Nose-to-Nose pet blogger awards, featuring celebrity pet expert, Wendy Diamond. Twelve awards were announced and presented in a variety of categories. The event was livestreamed and covered by media. A live spot featuring Carol Bryant and her dog, Dexter, was featured on Salt Lake station KSL TV.
The BlogPaws 2013 conference was announced for May 16 – May 18, 2013, in Tysons Corner, Virginia, with early bird registration for a limited time.
