Kansas State University recently appointed Greg Aldrich, PhD, as research associate professor and pet food program coordinator in its Feed Science and Management program. Aldrich received the appointment by Dick Maier, head of the university's Grain Science and Industry department.
Aldrich is a Kansas State graduate and a pet industry consultant. He also authors the column, “Ingredient Issues” for Petfood Industry.
He will be responsible for establishing an interdisciplinary pet food research program, providing guidance on course development, and working with university and allied industry members to assimilate support for broader program development.
Maier shared in a statement, “Bringing Greg on board is the next step to expanding the reach of our Feed Science and Management program. We hope to leverage his background and personal interest in Kansas State to help guide the program through its beginning years.”
The associate director for Kansas State Research and Extension, Ernie Minton, also reported that adding pet food research expands their opportunities so that research in the biosafety level two feed safety center being built as part of the new O.H. Kruse Feed Technology Innovation Center can have an expanded scope.
