IPC Media Names Skinner's Dog Food as Product of the Year
It has been announced that Skinner’s Field & Trial Turkey & Rice product for dogs won the Gundog Product of the Year award as present by IPC Media.
IPC Media awards celebrate achievements and innovations in the shooting industry in a host of categories. IPC Media is the leading consumer magazine publisher in the United Kingdom. Some of their titles include “The Field,” “The Shooting Gazette,” “Sporting Gun,” and “Shooting Times.”
The Field & Trial Turkey & Rice product that won was launched in 2011 and remains the only product to contain a branded mobility supplement joint aid for dogs made by GWF Nutrition. Dogs that participate in demanding sports such as racing are the food’s target market. It is hypoallergenic, and free from maize, wheat, barley, soy, and dairy products in addition to containing Omega 3:6 fatty acids.
The product contains 21 percent protein, 11 percent oils and fats, 3 percent fibers, 5 percent omega 3 and 6. The product is boasted as suitable for all adult working dogs.
The manufacturer, Skinner’s mill, has been a part of the U.K.’s Suffolk landscape since 1688. The Skinner mill belonged to the Skinner family for seven generations, but the current Chairman, Roger Skinner, branched the company out into dry dog foods.
Two of the originally manufactured diets, Dog Meal and Dog Food, were popular with many local gundog and wildfowlers clubs. In the early 1980s Skinner’s and nutritionists developed other foods for a wider range of dietary requirements of dogs. In the early 1990s the company launched their Field & Trial range. Starting with two foods in the line, they now compose of nine specifically formulated diets including three recent additions: duck and rice, salmon and rice, and turkey and rice.
