American Humane Association Announces Candy Spelling to Board of Directors
The American Humane Association (AHA) announced that Candy Spelling, National Humanitarian Award winner, Broadway producer, and bestselling author, is joining their national board of directors.
The AHA honored Spelling in the spring with their National Humanitarian Award based on her dedication to the organization’s values.
American Humane Association President and CEO Dr. Robin Ganzert, shared, “Candy Spelling's lifetime of achievement in helping children and animals perfectly embodies the powerful spirit of those values, and her work is an inspiration to millions. Having her join our nationally influential board as a powerful voice for both children and animals will benefit those in the greatest need across America."
Ms. Spelling is a judge for the AHA Hero Dog Awards and chaired a fundraising event, “Bark for the Cure,” to benefit canine cancer. She was named an Ambassador for Tourism for Los Angeles in the summer of 2009 and joined Tom Hanks, Kobe Bryant, and others in this effort. She is a Commissioner Emeritus for the Board of Recreation and Parks for the City of Los Angeles and an Board of Governors Member of LA's Best, the after-school enrichment program that serves children in need through the city in partnership with the Los Angeles Unified School District, the City of Los Angeles and the private sector.

"I have always endeavored to support both children's and animal issues and am proud to be associated with American Humane Association, which for 135 years has championed the cause of the most vulnerable."
Earlier this year, Dr. Robin Ganzert, was honored as a Visionary Leader and was awarded a Fiduciary Leadership Award, The award is given yearly to one individual who, though their leadership to the nonprofit world coupled with their time and insights were able to properly lead donor contributions.
