Actor Josh Duhamel Teams With PetSmart Charities Adoption Centers Campaign
In order to celebrate the 5 million lives of pets saved through PetSmart Charities’ Adoption Centers, PetSmart has teamed up with actor Josh Duhamel in launching the “High Five for Pet Adoption” campaign.
Duhamel is a pet adoption advocate and has been selected as a spokesperson for the campaign in order to raise awareness of the homeless pet problem in our nation.
The actor shared, “Pet adoption changed my life when we were looking to find a companion for our 7-year-old dachshund, Zoe. Soon after adopting Meatloaf, I learned that these pets are just grateful for the love you have to give them. I'm shocked by the statistics of the homeless pet problem.”
The family who adopted PetSmart Charities’ 5 millionth pet, Dodge, received several perks to mark the adoption, including PetSmart Total Lifetime Care plan, 10 years’ worth of coupons for Purina Pro Plan brand pet food or treats or Purina Tidy Cats brand cat litter, and a 5-year wellness plan from Banfield.
Susana Della Maddalena, executive director of PetSmart Charities, Inc., shared, “About 10 percent of all pet adoptions in North America are made possible by PetSmart Charities, and we save more than 400,000 homeless pets every year.”
Employing approximately 48,000 associates, PetSmart, Inc., has more than 1,197 stores and over 185 in-store PetSmart PetsHotel dog and cat boarding facilities. Trading as PETM, through its in-store pet adoption partnership with PetSmart Charities, PetSmart has helped save the lives of more than 5 million pets. PetSmart Charities was established in 1994 and is an independent nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and the largest funder of animal welfare efforts in North America.
