Deborah Barnes is the author of the book, The Chronicles of Zee & Zoey – A Journey of the Extraordinarily Ordinary, that was inspired by the relationship she shared with her family of seven cats and lessons learned from them after a life-changing event in 2010. She is also the creator and author of the popular Blog, Zee & Zoey’s Chronicle Connection, that not only continues to follow the everyday journey she shares with her cats, but covers topics from the humorous behaviors of cats to very serious subjects on the misconceptions of feral cats and the critical need to create public awareness on pet responsibility.
While her first work was not published until 2011, Deborah has a background in marketing and has been writing for over 20 years in various capacities. Her current circle of works has brought her to where she is today – a serious cat advocate and Secretary of the newly created Pawsitively Humane Nonprofit organization of Miami, Florida, whose mission is to create public awareness and reduce the numbers of animals on the streets and in shelters through an extensive educational campaign.
She has been integral to spearheading the efforts of saving the outdoor cats that were once safely and peacefully residing on the Loews Orlando Universal resort properties that has garnered national news due to the inhumane and cruel removal of them from the premises and she has also conducted a series of interviews about the abandoned cats in Japan as an aftermath of the tsunami/earthquake/nuclear meltdown of last year and has made several video documentaries about the misconceptions of feral cats and the importance of TNR programs.
Deborah currently resides in the tropical paradise of South Florida with her fiancé and her seven cats – Jazz, Harley, Zee, Zoey, Mia, Peanut, and Rolz. You can contact her at dbarnes@zeezoey.com, connect on Facebook and Twitter, or find her at zeezoey.com and zeezoey.com/blog.
