A new app has been launched which offers real-time information about how, when, and where dogs are walked. Veriwalk is designed with the dog walker in mind, as the app uses GPS technology of a dog walker’s cell phone to track the walk of a dog and then send the report to the dog’s owner.
Dog walking companies can track employees and confirm dog walks, and owners are also notified when dogs get picked up for a walk and then dropped off via email or text messaging. Dog owners also may use real-time maps of dog walks with notes about the walk, providing peace of mind while someone is caring for their pet.
The co-founder of Veriwalk, Adam Zeldis, reported, “I've had my share of dog walkers who would show up late or not at all. Often times, I wouldn't even know that my dog was being neglected. As a dog owner, Veriwalk was a product that I could see myself using which is why I helped create it.”
Features of Veriwalk, a software-only solution, include e-mail and SMS notifications when a dog is picked up and dropped off by the dog walker, detailed map with GPS route, distance, and duration; walker notes; and because it is software-only, there is no need for a separate tracking collar.
Dog walking companies are able to sign up for an evaluation or subscription at the company’s website. The service is free to dog walking companies that offer the service to their client for $1 per verified walk. For those dog walking companies that prefer their employees “opt in” for an internal subscription, the fee is $100 per month.
Veriwalk is available in the United States, is free to download, and is available in the Apple App Store and the Android Market.
