A patent pending hybrid tracking system has been launched by Dallas, Texas-based company, eTrak. The system uses Wi-Fi access points, cellular ID and GPS to be certain of accuracy as close as 10 feet of a pet, object, or person. It is designed for both business and government markets.
The location tracking devices from eTrak are able to track a person, pet, or object and are designed to wear on the ankle, around the neck, or on the wrist. The company reported that the product can be attached to a shoelace, backpack or keyring and is able to be stored in a suitcase or pocket.
The eTrak software allows customers to use an emergency call button for texting and emails that are sent to pre-determined recipient featuring exact location and turn-by-turn directions.
John Harris, eTrak CEO shared, "The eTrak consumer products will provide safety, peace of mind and help save lives at a very affordable price. eTrak's commercial product line provides the first high-accuracy, affordable solution for businesses to provide safety and security for everything from employees to assets."
Harris revealed that eTrak is an electronic “guardian angel,” helping clients watch their loved ones and possessions 24/7. He shared that it provides peace of mind and can help saves lives with an affordable price point. The eTrak products retail for $99 powered by Verizon with monthly subscription prices between $8 to $15, which he states is less than similar products on the market.
The eTrak line was introduced at the CTIA Wireless 2012 trade show in New Orleans and is dubbed the new standard in location-based services. The E-911 voice call device acts as a panic button, and the products use a “learning technology” that allows eTrak to recognize new Wi-Fi locations as they are available and send them in real time, with follow me coverage.
