A remix of the famous Meow Mix cat food jingle has been released by Del Monte Pet Products in conjunction with recording artist and star of television’s “The Voice,” CeeLo Green.
The jingle is being re-released with this updated version after taking a 16-year hiatus. The now famous “Meow, Meow, Meow, Meow” tune is available on the Meow Mix website. With each song download, one pound of Meow Mix cat food is being donated to Pets are Wonderful Support of Los Angeles (PAWS/LA) for pets in need.
Green’s Persian feline, Purrfect the Cat, made her debut in season two of “The Voice,” much to the delight of the show’s fans. CeeLo adopted the cat to keep him company while in Los Angeles for the production of the show. Green shared, “Purrfect was thrilled to hear about this new deal with Meow Mix cat food. That sultry purr of hers is perfect for a modernized remix of the iconic Meow Mix jingle. Watch out cats!"
The goal of the campaign is to raise up to 12,000 pounds of cat food for PAWS/LA, which is a group dedicated to providing assistance to low-income seniors and people disabled by a life-threatening illness so that they can keep and care for their pets. It is reported that the donation from the campaign will feed all of the PAWS/LA cats for an entire year.
Purrfect the Cat also has many Twitter followers, amounting to over 50,000 to date. The jingle is available on the Meow Mix website for both download and as a ringtone.
Sue Resnicoff, Director of Cat Food Marketing, Del Monte Foods, said, “This is truly the 'perfect' opportunity to introduce the Meow Mix cat food jingle to a whole new audience of pet lovers.”
In related news, Kelton Research recently conducted a Meow Mix survey, where five percent of Americans revealed that if their cats could talk, they would sound like CeeLo Green.
