Kmart has revealed a new pet medication program that will provide their shoppers with savings and easy access to prescription brand and generic mediations for their pets.
According to Kmart’s official website, their pharmacy has nearly all commercial and compounded medications available and in stock and offers a “ship to” option.
Categories listed in the Pets section of the online pharmacy form include flea and tick, heartworm, joint and arthritis, medications, treats, compounded drugs, and grooming (supplies).
Ghassan Hourani, Vice President and GM, Pharmacy Administration for Kmart Pharmacy, stated, “This new pet program is just another example of how we strive to make the shopping experience seamless for our customers. In addition to our wide variety of pet products, including the Kmart-exclusive Champion Breed food, toys and treats, we are thrilled that we can now offer our customers and their furry family members a one-stop shopping experience."
In related news, Kmart is giving customers a complimentary Purina treat in conjunction with National Pet Month. When customers purchase a medication for their pet from the pharmacy between April 29 and May 26, they will receive a free Purina Beneful Baked Delight or Purina Cat treat (up to a $3.99 value). Customers who are not shopping at the pharmacy can get a treat also by spending $20 on Purina products at Kmart.
Kmart is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sears Holdings Corporation. Headquartered in Troy, Michigan, Kmart opened its first discount store in a Detroit suburb in 1962. They launched their first celebrity product line, the Jaclyn Smith line of clothes, in 1985. In 1995 more than 200 United States stores closed and in 1998, they sold some stores to Hudson’s Bay Company in Canada. Having filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2002, the company announced closing 284 stores.
