Trupanion Pet Insurance Expands U.S. Coverage
Trupanion pet insurance provider recently revealed the expansion of their service to the state of Idaho, meaning pet owners in that state may now partake in enrolling their dogs and cats.
As the second-largest pet insurance provider in existence, Trupanion offers pet owners lifetime coverage for cats and dogs, with a 90 percent reimbursement. There are no payout limits per claim, per year, nor over the pet’s lifetime.
The company worked to become approved by the Idaho Department of Insurance since they expanded from Canada into the United States in 2008. Trupanion is active in 46 states, as well as 46 states, the District of Columbia, all Canadian provinces and Puerto Rico.
Darryl Rawlings, chief executive officer at Trupanion, shared, “Pet insurance helps with the cost of treatment, helping to ensure that pet owners can take advantage of the best diagnostic and treatment plans available, extending the pet’s quality of life and keeping the pet with the family, without as much financial strain.” Rawlings reported that with their state-by-state expansion, the company hopes to meet pet owners’ needs looking for health coverage affordably.
Trupanion offers both cat and dog insurance throughout the United States and Canada. Trupanion is self-underwritten by the American Pet Insurance Company, has earned the Financial Stability Rating of A, Exceptional, from Demotech, Inc., and is a founding member of North American Pet Health Insurance Association (NAPHIA).
According to the company, first pet insurance company in North America to show a profit, in 2004, Trupanion is backed by the investor group Maveron LLC, managing over $4 billion in assets. They have received the seal of acceptance by the American Animal Hospital Association.
