A new monthly record has been set by Pethealth’s 24PetWatch Microchip Program in terms of sales for the first quarter, 2012.
The company operates in the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States. They have announced record sales of their microchip for pets for both March and quarter one of 2012. PetHealth sold almost 133,000 microchips in March, which is a 23 percent increase over March 2011. They attribute the increase to a strong drive in their North American animal welfare channel and expanding United Kingdom Market Share.
Based in Oakville, Ontario, Pethealth was founded in 1998 on the premise of providing financial aid and other services to companion animal and veterinary industries.
In the animal welfare channel of Pethealth, microchip sales have benefited from a 15 percent year-over-year increase in first quarter adoptions to a total of nearly 230,000. The company employs the PetPoint animal management system, which is a cloud-based software application software application. PetPoint was begun in 2005 by Pethealth and is licensed by over 1,800 animal welfare organizations, who receive it free of charge and use 24PetWatch microchips exclusively.
Sales in the United Kingdom were up over 300 percent year over year. Pethealth expects second quarter 2012 sales to continue with the introduction of the Allflex MiniChip product. Similar to the launch of the MiniChip throughout North America, Pethealth will launch the “Recover a Pet, Uncover a Cure” campaign in conjunction with the Pink Ribbon Foundation of the U.K.
Agreements were formalized in early 2011 with the American Breast Cancer Foundation and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - Ontario Chapter and Pethealth. A part of proceeds from the sale of microchips will assist in funding breast cancer research in Canada and the United States.
