Sergeant’s Pet Care Products has unveiled a line of new behavioral products designed for cats and dogs. Included in the line are calming collars, noise and phermone spray, calming spray, and calming diffuser.
The Sentry HC Good Behavior Phermone Collar is designed to provide stress and anxiety relief from situations such as separation anxiety that may occur in pets. During a taping of the Lifetime Network television show, The Balancing Act, Dr. Rodney Van Horn of the Omaha Medical Group shared, “Mother dogs and cats comfort their offspring by emitting pheromones as they nurse. The puppies and kittens associate this scent with being safe and satisfied. Later in the pets' lives, these same pheromones can still trigger feelings of safety and well-being.”
The calming spray is designed for stressful situations that pets are exposed to, such as a trip to the veterinarian, groomer, and/or encountering new visitors to the home. The spray contains a patented phermone and made its debut to pet specialty retailers nationwide in March, 2012.
Another item in the new product launch is the Stop That! Noise & Pheromone Spray, which is designed to stop destructive/bad behavior, including digging or aggressiveness. The spray’s phermone is designed to redirect the pet’s attention and behavior.
Dr. John McGlone, a professor and research scientist, shared, “We’ve found that some of these pheromones help pets reduce their anxiety and the problem behaviors that can result. Research has shown that specific pheromones are even able to change specific problem behaviors.”
The Sentry calming diffuser product launched by Sergeant’s helps calm dogs and cats when things such as fireworks or thunderstorms occur. Like the pheromone collar, the diffuser technology is meant to mimic the pheromone mother dogs and cats produce to calm their litter. It will be available in May, 2012.
