Karen Norteman is an award-winning writer and blogger who also works as a web designer and a technical writer. She has been an occasional contributing writer for Cottage Dog Magazine, Downeast Dog News, MaineToday.com, the Tale’s End (newsletter for New England Old English Sheepdog Rescue), the Telegram (newsletter for the Piscataqua Obedience Club), and Hair of the Dog (newsletter for the Bearded Collie Club of Maine).
In addition, she has reported on the Bay Colony Dog Shows for the blog Dog Show Newbie at the invitation of the show’s PR agency, and has been a Guest MC for the show's Rescue Parade. She has appeared on Ask Dog Lady’s weekly radio show to discuss the Westminster Dog Show and other topics.
Karen served two terms as Corresponding Secretary for the Bearded Collie Club of America, has served on multiple National Specialty Committees, and is a founding member, secretary, and webmaster for the Bearded Collie Club of Maine. She also belongs to the York County Kennel Club of Maine and the Piscataqua Obedience Club. She regularly stewards in the conformation ring and has served as an all-breed match judge.
Karen is also a member of the Dog Writers’ Association of America, and is a certified AKC Canine Good Citizen tester. She lives with four Bearded Collies and the classical composer Gregory Hall.
