Featured Writer of the Week: Susan Conant
Thursday, Mar 22, 2012 8:20 am
Susan Conant grew up with pointers. Her first word was dog. Ever since that initial utterance, she has spoken it and written it with alarmingly frequency. The author of nineteen mysteries featuring Holly Winter and her Alaskan malamutes, she writes for and about dog lovers. She thinks of herself as an anthropologist of the dog fancy.
Susan is an eight-time winner of the Dog Writers Association of America’s Maxwell Award. Her most recent dog lover's mystery, Brute Strength, won an Arthur Award from the Alliance of Purebred Dog Writers as well as a Maxwell. She has published one mystery for cat lovers, Scratch the Surface, and two nonfiction books. She and her daughter, Jessica Conant-Park, collaborated on the Gourmet Girl series of culinary mysteries.
Susan is a member of the Alaskan Malamute Club of America, the Dog Writers Association of America, the Morris and Essex Kennel Club, the New England Dog Training Club, Sisters in Crime, and the Yankee Alaskan Malamute Club. She is the vice president of the Alaskan Malamute Assistance League. Do we detect a trend here?
Susan and her husband live near Boston with two Chartreux cats and a malamute mix, the ancient and adorable Mandy. Susan welcomes visitors to her Facebook page: facebook.com/susan.conant1
