Sergeant's Pet Care Announces New Products,Receives Grant
Sergeant’s Pet Care Products, Inc., will be creating 58 new full-time positions at their Omaha, Nebraska headquarters due to a $505,000 state grant awarded by Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman.
According to the Beatrice Daily Sun, the grant is going to be split, with $500,000 of it towards machinery and equipment used to make Sergeant’s flea and tick preventatives, pet shampoos, and pet toothpaste products. The additional $5,000 will be used for administrative costs.
Sergeant’s has been in business since 1868 and is the longest-running American company in the pet supplies business. They recently released new products in the flea and tick prevention line, including Sentry Fiproguard MAX and Sergeant's Pronyl OTC MAX. Using the ingredient fipronil, Sergeant’s also combined it with cyphenothrin in the dog formula and etofenprox in the cat formula. The products are touted as the first available ones with fipronil to have a second active ingredient.
Bob Scharf, president and chief executive officer of Sergeant's, shared, “We're very excited to be able to bring these products, which are over-the-counter equivalent to the latest technology introduced in veterinarian-dispensed products, to retail consumers without having to wait for years.”
A March, 2012, press release revealed that Sergeant’s has several additions in their line of SENTRY pheromone products, targeted to address behavioral problems in pets.
Sergeant’s roots began in Richmond, Virginia in 1868 and the company has been based in Omaha, Nebraska since 1989. The grant program is administered by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development using federal money available from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.
