Royal Canin USA , a company founded in 1967 by Dr. Jean Cathary in France, recently named Keith Levy as its President as of February 20, 2012.
Levy was previously with Anheuser-Busch as their chief marketing officer and left the company after 24 years to become President of Royal Canin USA. According to a statement from Royal Canine USA, Levy increased sales growth, market share, and profits during his years with Anheuser-Busch.
Serge Dubé, regional president of the Americas for Royal Canin USA, shared, “We are fortunate to have someone of Keith’s caliber and experience to lead Royal Canin USA. Our goal is to provide more pets with the optimal nutrition for health and this is an important market for us.”
Levy is replacing Joe Flanigan, who accepted a different position within the Mars company, as per a report in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch newspaper.
Regarding his appointment, Levy shared, “What first drew me to the company was the passion of its associates and the quality of its products. I was immediately connected to the brand through my love for cats and dogs and am excited about the opportunity to be part of a growing business dedicated to providing the best nutrition for pets.”
Royal Canin has three research centers, with locations in France, Brazil, and the United Kingdom. With an industrial presence in four continents, they also have a presence in over 90 countries worldwide.
Royal Canin’s vision has been focused on health nutrition for pets, from the 1980 development and launched of large breed dog food to the 2005 launch of two breed-specific diets geared exclusively at the Shih Tzu and Dachsund breeds. They continue to launch breed-specific food and also launched an indoor nutritional program for cats with five different diets.
