Pet Business Magazine recently awarded the company “26 Bars & a Band” an honor in the dog leash category with their recent 10th anniversary most exciting and innovative products announcement.
Considered the first company to manufacture a printed retractable leash, 26 Bars & a Band was founded by married couple, Mike and Sandi Kaneko. The company began in 2004 and the product is sold in over 35 countries, with the Avant Garde retractable leash being their best-selling product. With almost two dozen sizes in two sizes, each leash is complete with an all-nylon belt; rubberized, ergonomic handle; one-button brake and release; and a smooth retracting mechanism. The company also manufactures pet products for the Paul Frank lifestyle brand.
Sandi Kaneko, President of 26 Bars & a Band, reported, “We are very flattered to receive this special award. What makes this most meaningful is that Pet Business is a highly respected trade magazine and only awards one manufacturer per category. For our Avant Garde Retractable Leashes to be the one selected in this category really makes us appreciate the award even more.”
Available in independent stores and boutiques across the United States as well as internationally, the leashes retail from between $29.95 for small to $38.95 for medium. Avant Garde has a 36-month warranty on their retractable leashes. The company has been featured in Elle magazine, Real Simple magazine, and on The Today Show.
Pet Business is a magazine that is distributed directly to retailers such as grooming shops, kennels, pet supply outlets, and veterinarians. With a circulation of over 24,000, the magazine offers how-to information and analysis from experts in the industry.
