North Shore Animal League Partners with Cyndi Lauper for Tour
North Shore Animal League of America (NSALA) announced it is launching its 12th Annual Tour for Life beginning in March and ending at the end of April, 2012.
A total of three mobile and adoption units will take to the roads with
Purina ONE to travel across America simultaneously with a goal of partnering with over 100 shelters and rescues in over 33 cities and 16 states. The purpose of the tour is to help raise adoption awareness and get cities and communities in contact with their local animal rescues and shelters.
The tour began in 2001 and is touted as the world’s largest mobile pet adoption event, having saved the lives of tens of thousands of animals with each tour. The tour will cover over 15,000 miles and will be done in conjunction with this year’s Tour for Life spokesperson,
Cyndi Lauper, who shared, “There are so many beautiful and healthy animals in shelters, making the responsible choice an easy one – animal lovers can show their true colors by adopting a pet and saving a life."
The tour kicks off on March 22 at the Humane Society of Greater Savannah in Georgia and culminates on April 29 at the Amarillo Panhandle Humane Society in Texas.
The North Shore Animal League marks its headquarters in Port Washington, New York, and is the largest no-kill rescue and adoption center in the world. Each year the group helps to provide 20,000 pets into their forever homes. NSALA has saved over one million animals since they began and in the past decade, over 200,000 lives saved.
Cyndi Lauper has been an entertainer for over 25 years and has sold over 30 million records on a global basis. She released her eleventh album in studio in 2010 and was nominated for a Grammy award. She is currently promoting a new DVD, From Memphis with Love, and will be releasing an autobiography in addition to the other projects in which she is involved.
