OAKVILLE, Ontario – February 6, 2012. (TSX:PTZ) Pethealth Inc. (“Pethealth” or the “Company”), North America’s leading provider of companion animal RFID technology for lost pet recovery, has launched a campaign which supports the American Breast Cancer Foundation while raising awareness about lost pet recovery and the exclusive new 24PetWatch MiniChip™.
Through the “Recover a Pet, Uncover a Cure” campaign, a portion of the purchase price of every MiniChip will be donated to the American Breast Cancer Foundation in support of breast cancer research. At one third the size of standard microchip technology, the 24PetWatch MiniChip™, developed and manufactured by Allflex USA, Inc., offers a more humane alternative for microchip use in small breed dogs, cats, and kittens.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer this innovative product to animal welfare practitioners across North America as well as raise awareness about lost pet recovery in support of a worthy cause,” said Mark Warren, President and CEO of Pethealth Inc.
In addition to the size-related advantages of a smaller microchip, each MiniChip includes free registration to the 24PetWatch Lost Pet Recovery network and a year of complimentary database maintenance services. To support the campaign, the MiniChip applicator and packaging were produced in pink, and each MiniChip is accompanied by a pink 24PetWatch tag.
“We would highly recommend the MiniChip to anyone, but most especially to those who are chipping young or small animals,” said Cynthia Martinez, Director of Operations at the Humane Society of San Antonio where shelter staff where given the opportunity to test the MiniChip. “The smaller applicator and needle make the chipping process so much easier. The needle enters the skin easily and leaves almost no mark at all. It is ideal for kittens and small puppies. We have even found it makes chipping cats with their tough skin, easier.
Pet owners interested in participating in the campaign are encouraged to contact their local animal shelter or veterinary clinic to ask about the 24PetWatch MiniChip, which is widely available through over 4,000 veterinary clinics and animal welfare groups in the United States.
