Petswelcome.com, a pet friendly hotel and travel website, and Hurricane Hollow Weather, a weather forecast service, have formed HELP (Hurricane Evacuation and Location Planning) for people and pets.
HELP will provide people who own pets the knowledge and tools to be able take their pets with them when a hurricane threatens their area or an evacuation order is given. At the beginning of July Petswelcome.com will be releasing a phone app which will allow people to find pet-friendly lodgings by destination city or their current location. The app will initially be released for Android phones.
"We're very happy to combine forces with Bob Brookens and Hurricane Hollow Weather to help people make informed decisions when it comes to their pets' safety in hurricane emergencies," said Chris Kingsley, president of Petswelcome.com. "With Bob's hurricane expertise and our ability to allow people to find pet-friendly hotels, and other lodgings and shelter, we feel we can make a big difference in greatly reducing the number of pets that are left behind in storm-related evacuations."
