PetFood Forum and PetFood Workshop 2012 Schedules Revealed
The PetFood Forum 2012, being held from April 2 through April 4, 2012, in Schaumburg, Illinois, will host keynote speaker Betsy Banks Saul, founder of Petfinder.com, and Michael Taylor, deputy commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
During this 20th edition of the Petfood Forum, over 1,200 pet industry colleagues and peers will attend the event for networking, learning, and to celebrate successes. Planned topics of discussion include pet nutrition, pet food packaging, safety, and processing.
Monday, April 2, marks exhibitor set-up time, registration and check in, followed by an evening opening reception. Conference sessions and networking events on Tuesday, April 3, include the keynote by Banks Saul at 8:30 a.m. followed by opening of the exhibit hall. General sessions for the day include consumer insights from the pet e-commerce sector, functional pet food, trends and insights into pet retail channels, the impact of FSMA on pet food regulation, and more.
Highlights of Wednesday, April 4, include sessions about pet food banks, nutritional guidelines and labeling codes for the European pet food market, consumer goods packaging trends, cross-contamination prevention and controls, and innovations in treats and nutritional enhancements for small mammals. Closing keynote by Taylor, the deputy commissioner for foods for the FDA, will address the similarities and differences between human safety and pet food safety along with the new rules arising from FSMA.
Immediately following the Petfood Forum 2012 this year will be Petfood Workshop: New Product Development, which is touted as a hands-on seminar on how to launch new pet food products. It will focus on new product development including screening ideas, developing and testing concepts, conducting market and business analyses, pricing, promotion, and more.
