Pets Best Insurance Founder Honored by VetPartners with Pioneer Award
The founder of Pets Best Insurance, Dr. Jack Stephens, has been bestowed the Pioneer Award by VetPartners.
Award nominations for the Pioneer Award were made by VetPartners’ members. Dr. Stephens was nominated by fellow VetPartners’ member, Kent Kruse, DVM, of PurinaCare Insurance Services. In his nomination, Kruse wrote, “In the early years Jack organized Economic Summits on an every-other-year basis and provided veterinary management consultants with two days of continuing education, fellowship, food, and fun. These learning opportunities were provided at minimal expense to the invited guests. Gathering distinguished individuals who devoted their professional lives to assisting veterinarians in the management of their practices became the very basis for the VetPartners. I can't think of a more deserving recipient of the Pioneer Award.”
Stephens founded Pets Best Insurance in 1981 with the goal of reducing the numbers of euthanized pets and in a commitment to the safety, health, and well-being of pets everywhere. Pets Best Insurance plans are underwritten by Independence American Insurance Company, a Delaware Insurance company.
Stephens received the award on January 13, 2012, at the Gaylord Palms Convention Center at the North America Veterinary Conference in Orlando, Florida. Stephens shared how special the award is to him, reporting that the idea for VetPartners was initiated during the annual leadership summit he sponsored for many years for the veterinary profession. He also cited that VetPartners is about helping vets become successful in practice so they can focus better on the health and well-being of the animals they treat. Stephens noted a reinvestment into the profession through VetPartners so that veterinarians can use new technologies to diagnose and treat pets.
