Pet Sitters International Names 2011 Pet Sitter of the Year
Pet Sitters International (PSI), the world’s educational association for professional pet sitters, named their 2011 Pet Sitter of the Year. The selected person is Jordan Di Marco, who is the owner of Dogma Catma Pet Sitting located in Boulder, Colorado.
Given yearly to a pet sitter who embodies the passion and professionalism of this career, the award was created in 1996 by PSI. It is considered the pet-sitting industry’s highest accolade.
Panelists for this year’s selection process included David Pearsall of Business Insurers of the Carolinas; Scott Black, 2010 Pet Sitter of the Year; Arden Moore, pet expert and founder of Fourleggedlife.com; and Denise Quashie, founder of Barkworld Expo. There were more than 500 nominations from professional pet sitters represented in 20 different states across the country.
PSI President Patti Moran said, “Jordan’s clients praised her commitment to their pets, her willingness to go beyond the call of duty and her high level of pet-care knowledge. Jordan has also made great efforts to take advantage of continuing education opportunities and support the pet-sitting industry. She is a wonderful example to fellow pet-sitting professionals.”
One of the nomination entries shared how Di Marco drove a four-wheel drive vehicle through three feet of snow and a blizzard to shovel a path in the driveway of a client’s house to access the pets.
