The Pet Education Project Announces Winner of February Competition
The Pet Education Project (PEP!), an education and outreach program that teaches children the responsibilities of pet ownership in order to prevent pet overpopulation, abuse and neglect, is pleased to announce the winner of its February PEP! Star competition. This is awarded to a child or teenager who shows care and compassion for animals.
Each month children who have made a positive impact on the lives of animals in their community or pets in their home are nominated. Winners of this award are granted a special PEP! prize package and will be featured on the Pet Education Project’s website.
Emily Rose, of Belcher, La was chosen as the February PEP! Star winner. She has displayed special care towards animals during the holiday season. Her Christmas wish to her mother was to become a part of PEP! and help to share the message to other kids on how to care for their pets. Rose has since taken action to volunteer with PEP! and has also recruited the help of her friends to join in the cause.
Winners of this award will also be eligible for the first annual PEP! Star National Kids Competition to be held in November, 2012.
Anyone up to 16 years of age may be nominated. Children can also nominate themselves by sharing a story, photograph, or drawing of the accomplishments they have made.
