Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council Announces Additional Conference Speakers
The Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council (PIJAC), the world’s largest pet trade association that represents the interests of manufacturers, distributors, breeders, retailers and pet owners has announced additional speakers for their upcoming Top to Top Conference to be held from May 3 through 4, 2012 in La Jolla, California.
The conference is slated to begin with a state of the industry and town hall meeting. Also held, will be an open forum discussion by Robert Moran, CEO and president of PetSmart; Bob Shipley, president & CEO of the Hartz Mountain Corporation; and Peter Weinstein, executive director for the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association.
Bard Weston, Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer of Petco will host the panel discussion entitled, “Changing Retail Channels: Are You Poised to Profit?” Bob Johansen, past president for the Institute for the Future, will discuss future trends and their impact on the pet industry.
Dr. Bernard E. Rollin, a professor at Colorado State University, will also be present to discuss the humane movement and pet industry during his session, “The Humane Movement and the Pet Industry: Can the Two Live In the Same Dog House?” Wesley J. Smith, author of A Rat is a Pig a Dog is a Boy, will be present at a special luncheon as well.
The conference is home to retailers, manufacturers, and distributors in networking meetings for industry executives. James Carville and Mary Matalin are slated to give the keynote address.
